We would like to briefly introduce the GC little helper II script.

The GC little helper II is a tool to enhance and extend the functionality on "www.geocaching.com". All functions can be set in a configuration menu. The tool uses english as language. It is developed in Javascript and can be used with the script manager Tampermonkey under the browsers Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, Opera, Microsoft Edge and Vivaldi.

The tool is free of charge, without any advertising and is already used by thousands of users.

Some selected screenshots of the geocaching pages by using the GC little helper II offer a small overview. The marked extensions are not further described there, they are only intended to give an impression of what is involved.

Off Topic:


Images in the cache listing are changed:
For some days now, images in the cache listing and images in the background of the cache listing have been changed by GS. This can lead to puzzles in connection with the image data being destroyed and the puzzles no longer being solvable. Images in your own profile are also changed. Sometimes images are no longer loaded and are only displayed as a frame with a broken image.

Speed up the loading of the geocaching websites:
The geocaching websites, especially the cache listing, take considerably longer to load and display all data than we were used to. The reason for this are program parts at the address "cookiebot.com". These parts of the program were probably bought by GS to establish the necessary changes to the General Data Protection Regulation ... on the geocaching pages.

With this concept, GS will probably not be able to noticeably improve the loading times of the geocaching websites.

If the whole thing goes you too slowly, you can block the address "cookiebot.com" with an ad blocker, so that no delayed activities can come from the side. The "side effect" is the blocking of advertising.

Without having extensively tested all ad blockers, the add-on uBlock Origin seems very promising because it is very fast and requires relatively little RAM.

Some of the last changes to version 0.10.4:

We added some additional cache information in the Search Map cache detail screen.




After go back from Search Map cache details to cache list, scroll to last position.




We added again the right mouse click to "Add to list" in the Cache Listing to open screen "Create a Bookmark". This function was last deactivated by GS.

We have build a lot of new placeholders for own stuff in copy to clipboard menu in cache listing.
And Multi entries for own stuff in copy to clipboard menu in cache listing are now possible.

If you discover errors in the script, you can report them here in this thread, or you can open an issue in the tracking system on our development platform. The same applies to your development inquiries.

It would be great if you could do it in English (or in German). We currently have no one on the team who masters Dutch.

For a few days there are problems with runtimes, correcting coordinates, building up VIP lists ... in cache listings. The problems are due to the fact that information about the favorite points and percentages of the cache are not always fully available, and the fact, that the GClh expects this data.

We have opened a bug report.

PS: We have problems to implement some issues on the new map and the new log form. We haven't given up yet, but it may take some time to implement.

We had put our feet up for a while, so this update took a while. But this update is now a bit thicker. And finally more features have been added to the new map. Special thanks go to Die Batzen, who developed the display and hiding of the map elements on the new map, we have broken our teeth so far.

PS: The new map (Search Map) is currently being revised by GS, which is why some GClh features no longer work or no longer work correctly. The work of GS is still in progress, so we have to be patient a little longer.

We mainly worked on the new map (Search Map) to get all the features working again after GS completely redesigned the site.

There are a few new things too.

We have also created information about the installation of the GClh on Android devices.

And we have created a documentation on how the GClh can be expanded if others are interested in participating in the development of the script. Knowledge of Javascript is an advantage, but not a mandatory requirement. When I started with the GClh, I didn't even have a trace of Javascript.

Since a few days I noticed that during the loading of a cache, the additional information will not be completed.

We are already working on it. Here is the issue.

GS has changed a lot of pages, that's why we have a lot of bugs at the moment. We will try to bring a new version as soon as possible.

There has been an update of the geocaching.com page. GC Little Helper II doesn't work anymore with the new update.

Update GC has been removed.

Yes, you are right. We are working on it - Issue 1630

As of yesterday the geocaching website has been adjusted and no scripts work anymore and apparently I am not the only one where it no longer works

At the moment you can only disable the script until we find solutions to the problems. The header of most geocaching pages has been completely rebuilt. We are working on solutions, but I'm afraid it will take a while.

PS: Gestern wurde der Header mit den Menüs und dem Userbereich auf allen relevanten Geocaching Seiten geändert. Die Untermenüs werden dabei erst beim Klicken auf den Haupteintrag des Menüs asynchron geladen. Zudem wird auch der gesamte Header asynchron geladen. Das bedeutet, dass der Header nicht zum Start der Geocaching Seite vorhanden ist. Letzteres führte dazu, dass der GClh nicht laufen konnte weil er Daten aus dem Header benötigt hat.

Für eine schnelle Lösung haben wir den kompletten Header mit den Menüs und dem Userbereich durch den alten, bisherigen Header ersetzt. Damit können wir das problematische asynchrone Laden umgehen.

Womöglich ist das nur eine temporäre Lösung, das werden wir später sehen.

Bleibt zu hoffen dass die Änderungen auf den Geocaching Seiten nicht zurückgenommen werden. Zumindest geht bei den letzten Release Notes der Punk ab. Bei Rücknahme bin ich mir im Moment nicht sicher, ob die Anpassungen im GClh auch dann noch funktionieren.

Die Geocaching Seiten My Lists, Search Map und Owner Dashboard und seine Unterseiten sind noch fehlerhaft. Ich schätze die Lakaien in Seattle arbeiten daran. Wir konnten unsere Anpassungen am GClh deshalb nicht auf den genannten Seiten testen.

Please do it in Chrome:

1. You have to click the link above. A Tampermonkey screen is displayed.
2. You have to confirm the update in Tampermonkey.
3. Then choose a new geocaching.com page.
4. Click to the Tampermonkey icon in your browser. Tampermonkey should be active. If not, activate it and refresh the page. The GC little helper II should be active in green. If not, activate it and refresh the page.

If this do not run, please post a screenshot of your complete browser window.
